Benalmadena Information and Property Guide
If you are looking to purchase Costa del Sol property or are
looking for somewhere to spend your next holiday, then why not
try Benalmadena? At around 20 kilometers from the centre of Malaga
and situated between Fuengirola and Torremolinos, Benalmadena is
one of the Costa del Sol's most popular destinations for both
holidaymakers and for people buying property on the coast.
It may not be Marbella, but it has many things going for it
including great hotels, bars, restaurants, activities and lots of
interesting things to see and do.
Benalmadena Costa
Benalmadena Costa is the coastal area of Benalmadena that stretches
along the coastline. This area is really popular for holidaymakers
and has tons of bars, restaurants and cafe's to explore along the
Paseo Maritimo.
There is a lovely park to visit just off the coastal road called
the Parque Paloma(Pigeon Park). This is a great park to visit and is
ideal if you are looking for a peaceful stroll. There is also a play
area for the children and a couple of cafe's for refreshments. It
also boasts a large pond which has many different species of birds,
turtles and other wildlife.
One of the main attractions of Benalmadena is its fantastic
marina(Puerto Marina) which was inaugurated in 1994. With it's
unique design, luxury yachts and great restaurants and shops, its
a perfect place to visit whilst in the Benalmadena area.
You may also want to visit the sea life centre which is in the
Benalmadena Marina area and also Tivoli World which is great
fun for all the family as there are rides, restaurants and shows
on offer on a daily basis throughout the summer.
Benalmadena Pueblo
Take a 5 minute drive inland and you will find Benalmadena Pueblo
which is a typical Andalucian white washed village with narrow streets
and cafe's. It's well worth taking a trip to the pueblo just to see
the incredible views. They really do take your breath away.
Benalmadena is also home to a magnificent buddhist stupa. The
stupa was erected in 1994 and has become a popular tourist
destination on the coast. There are regular shows, talks and meditation
classes(every tuesday and friday 7pm) at the stupa and there is even
a small museum in the basement of the stupa which houses a selection
of buddhist paintings and statues.
Arroyo de la Miel
Arroyo de la miel is a fairly large town in Benalmadena. Here you
will find Benalmadena train station which has connections to both
Fuengirola and to Malaga centre.
Arroyo de la miel also has a couple of markets, one on a friday in
the Plaza del Alguail and the other a flea market on a wednesday at
the Feria ground next to the Parque Paloma. There is also a market
held on a sunday within Tivoli World.
If you are not afraid of heights, then the cable car ride(Teleferico)
from Arroyo de la Miel to the summit of Monte Calamorro is for you.
The journey on the cable car takes around 10 minutes and from here
you can see all along the coast and on a clear day you are also able to
see north Africa.
